I gave up doing some things this year, a list which is in my head and not written down anywhere, but one of the things is to not go shopping (not groceries--mostly I wanted to cut out spending any money exclusively on myself). Here's what I've discovered: I get shopping urges way more than I thought. Usually it's for house stuff like getting some towels because we used a way old one in the dog's crate... Where is this money actually going to? I wish I knew! I really don't spend a lot anymore, usually to amuse myself with a magazine or a knitting project. I don't know where my almost-a-pack-a-day smoking habit money went! I quit two months ago, but haven't seen any kind of a difference in the cashflow. But I'm kinda kept in the dark on that. (mostly by choice)
I think what it is, is that I think to spend money about 90% more than I actually do spend.
And when I do- I'm super duper cheap.
Here's the plan- write a list of stuff I want. If I still want it after Easter, I'll get it.
Go team lent!
