Wouldn't it be great if the Iron Chef had an episode that was Nigella V. Emeril? I would love that. Who would Takeshi Kaga make out with after the show?

You'd think that Peta would have something a lot better to do with its time & resources than this.
The twins. Found by legnog. heh
I thought I was done decorating my apartment, now I'm not so sure.
For some reason, I love to say is "little-mini" as an adjective, here's a little-mini sushi kit, a little-mini fondue set, and here's something that is actually little AND mini: the little-mini bonsai kit. Also, the little-mini Buddha could be a little-mini Christmas gift for all your little-mini Buddhist buddies.

Cher Scholar
This is not a fan site...just a great experiment to prove to my family and friends that something creative and productive indeed can come from a life of self-imposed Cher Scholarship.

HEY HEY HEY! Now on Vinyl: Wilco / Yankee Hotel Foxtrot 180 Gram Double LP Set I wonder what is up with it being a double album?
Here's a good Turkey Wallpaper for you. I'm using it now. The perfect amount of strange to use on your nerdbox at work.
Oh my freakin' god, what is up with that? And why isn't it featured on howfreshisthisguy.com? If you are easily sickened, do not look at this scary closeup photo of MJ.

I'm going to save up so I can give this christmas gift to booka.

Monday, November 11, 2002

Hooray! Our special giftmaking projects for Christmas should be starting as soon as we get a Pysanky Kit delivered to our house. The craft is an Easter tradition, but we probably won't be making traditional designs, either. Here's How to Make Pysanky Ukrainian Eggs. This should be exciting, it's a resist process where wax holds the color of the layer beneath it (somewhat like a batik process for fabrics). I hope they turn out well, we might even get some big goose eggs for the project, fun!

I'm getting used to life with bangs, as promised, I took a photo. Yeah, it's a stupid shot, but I took it myself of me, and that's my favorite way of taking self portrait pictures. Peeps at work knew I did something different, most of them thought I took off my glasses, which is true, I had started wearing my contacts after a few months at the end of August. A nothing reaction is better than a bad one. This is the part of my life where I sneak into the shadows and forget about being an art star, workin' 9-5 to pay off the art star bills.

The other day, I was thinking of how cool my mom was to take me to her yoga classes at the Y when I was very young. I remember watching and doing Lilias Yoga & You! on TV with mom. My brother & I would try to put our legs behing our head and other feats to out-do eachother. I wonder how my mom thought this might be relaxing.

How cruel is it that the Humane Society named a dog (that had been shot twice in the back & paralized) Bullet?
I want this doggie for Christmas. Boy that would be so cool. Too bad we live in an apartment. I want a dog on wheels.
Another VASTLY overpriced fashion accessory: Crochet Hat with Flower Excuse me? 70 dollars? No thanks, I'll call grandma or figure it out on my own.
Alice Neel is one of my favorite artists of all time. Unfortunately, aliceneel.com 's gallery is not so great, it doesn't feature a lot of works and the pieces that are there are out of focus for the most part. Here's a short bio with two great paintings. Everyone featured in her paintings get outlined like a cartoon character, usually in pthalo blue. That's what I like.

Tattoo Your Towels!
Yes, you can do cool things for people for Christmas/Hanukah/Festivus for very little money. (This will definitely be the case for Adam & I this year, unless he can find a new job and climb the ladder to CEO in less than two months. It could happen.) Anyhow, check out Jenny Hart's article at GetCrafty! I have some of her patterns and they are fun cheap and easy to do!
DELAWARE MUSIC has a dictionaraokeesque version of twist & shout. Others too, a big list of mp3's.

I'll kill two birds with one stone if I get these for my dad for Christmas.
For Adam? Maybe one of these, why? I think he likes a little irony with his lighters.

Sunday, November 03, 2002

I just have to share: this morning my mom called me. I asked her what she did this weekend. She said she went with my dad to go see, yes, they really did go see Jackass the movie. That show is made for my brother and she said he didn't go with them. She said they were the oldest people in the theater (they're both in their 50's) and she started telling me about how the guys in the movie are stupid jerks, but then she talked more and more about it and was laughing the whole time. Which says to me, she secretly loved it! I couldn't believe it. That was one conversation I wish I had on tape to broadcast online.
Best word she said in the conversation? "Nutcup"
