Wowza: Adam found out less than 24 hours since his film was accepted in the Midwest Music Conference in Lexington Kentucky, he found out this afternoon that Johnny Ostrich and His American Songbag was also accepted at the MeDiA Co-op Digital Film Festival in Memphis!! Irony: they are both in the same week and on top of that, the same week we were planning a small vacation with my side of the family in Crossville Tennessee. Weird. Bizarre even. On top of all this good news, Adam's contract at work was renewed until at least January 1st. GO TEAM!

CONGRATULATIONS ADAM! It looks like his film made it into the Midwest Music Conference and Film Festival in Lexington Kentucky.
I fogot that I had subscribed to this great magazine called ReadyMade I highly recommend it! I've had it by my side since it came in the mail. The crossword was very hard. It has a lot of DIY projects–fun for us 20-30 somethings who graduated from art/writing schools with unrelated 9–5's. Go buy it.
Aw, Brian Wilson, I want your poster. I like that groovy scene like that. I like that he's an old dood on tour and uses chubby young guy on his 2002 poster. Maybe he didn't want to be in a photo shoot.
By the way, my favorite part of Pet Sounds is where he complains that someone "ate up all of (his) corn." Genius!

What's wrong? THIS IS WRONG!
OK Adam, I found something we can save up for and be extra cool in the process: plus, we'll be ultra-mod: building ourselves a dream house. Would they let us do that in Chicago?
Ooh, I recieved my first Ebay purchased planters, the deer tacky planter. It is really nice! Very solid and well made, so I think I'm going to be a collector of tacky planters now. Here's some Shawnee Pottery Animals Rebecca, I can tell, thinks I'm insane. I think it's fun!

Oh yeah, also: my mug now appears on designiskinky.com, see if you can find me.
Dude. I'm like totally at home today. It's nice. I washed my car and I'm wearing bike shorts- scary. Steepwater didn't win the contest, but I know they were the best and that's all that matters. I'm going to try to get through a few projects this weekend including the cutain dyeing, and more in the series of my new paintings. I can't wait to show those, I think they're really going to be funny. Two have been started, one is almost finished, but I want to do a few before I show them to anyone. Would anyone out there like to be my art agent?

Don't forget to vote for Steepwater!
Hahahaa! Someone in the coffee place told Adam he looks like this guy from Jimmy Eat World. You decide. I always thought he looked more like andy kaufman.

It's almost been a year since I started a book that I was sending to about 12 friends. I would have thought that I would have heard where it went lateley but I lost track of it-- last known location, Pembroke Pines, Florida. I put my return address on every envelope, and it hasn't been returned. My guess is it went to Hollywood and got locked into Nathan's unused P.O. box.

Also new item in my life, I adopted
supah sleepy pants from meomi's adopt-a-critter page. You can too!

Yeah, I'm a psycho with a debt card. I got two more tacky planters last night....
I couldn't help myself, a rooster pulling a cart that looks like a pineapple
AND mommy and baby deer.
Ahhh.... I am going to wait until August's paycheck to get more :)

Guuuurrrrrrrllll! My newest addiction (and what I just scored on e-bay) Tacky Planters!
Now the Bowling Man Planter will have a little friend.
They keep making this stuff because they know I'll buy it. Oh man.
Steepwater's page on WGN's Morning News site!
Andrew saw them, what did you think Andrew?
We're getting up early to be able to see them in between newspeople goofing off
and bad commercials on The Battle of the Bands.
CONGRATULATIONS GUYS & KICK ARCE.

meomi was the old Ot-tO.com... it's really a lot of fun. Girly, and childish, but that's why I like it so...

This is really the funniest cartoon show I've seen lately, minus of course The Brak Show.
It reminds me so much of people in my neighborhood. Um. I never heard of it before they
put it into the Adult Swim lineup, I could tell some of their references were a little
out dated like the stuff about Ska–apparently it was first broadcast on the WB! Weirdie.

When people from Michigan tell you what city they're from, they usually
will hold up one of their right hand and point it out for you.
There's a Michigan prison called the THUMB CORRECTIONAL FACILITY
and I bet you can't tell where it is.

I love the bottom panel of this week's Maakies.
P.S. Adam is in the other room playing acoustic All Along the Watchtower and it's really funnyweirdpainful to
hear him sing falsetto. No offense, honey, I know you're goofing off.
Oh, he just went into The House of the Rising Sun.
The cats are trying to claw their way into the room and I need earmuffs.
I can't eat these disgusting hot dog cookies, but if I could–I wouldn't. That's a good thing right?

I saw the Johnson & Johnson presentation of Door to Door last night, it was really good and better than paying a lotto money to go to the movies. It was about Bill Porter a door to door salesman with cerebral palsy, played by William H. Macy, who also has his own web site here.
P.S. IS SUMMER REALLY HALF OVER!?
I'll go cry now.

Have you heard the "new" elvis song yet?
Since I changed my name yesterday, Adam & I have to get new checks soon.
Tuesday, July 09, 2002
In case you're wondering what I got my buttered half for his birthday this year, I finally changed my name after being married since April 27th of 2001. Yea! I'm now Amy Beth Geerling Payne with Geerling as my new middle name. How fun is that!? I have a new first name, so I'm officially Amy Beth. GO TEAM. Don't worry, Adam is getting something better & more expensive soon. Payday though. How pathetic.
Dear Adam-
Happy Birthday! I found you a picture of this stripper!!! Hope you enjoy it.

Instead of fighting thousands of other cars leaving the city Wednesday for the holiday weekend, I had a mini anxiety attack and decided golfing with my Aunt's 70-something year old boyfriend at 7 in the morning the next morning wasn't worth the trouble. As it turned out, we have had a far more interesting 4th at home here in Chicago so far.
After dusk, the crackity crackle noises became a low roaring noise... I tore Adam away from his video hockey (on the 4th of July!!!) game and we climbed up to our neighbor's porch on the top floor who was away. All around us, we were surrounded by fireworks, all the loco neighbors that annoy us through the rest of the year with their loud sooped up "ghettobeast" cars and Elotez trash on the sidewalks and gutters, and the snotty neighbors with their BMW's disguised as Jettas who look at us like we're hillbillies from Detroit, have given us somthing back: they were the ones that drove to undetermined locations to buy fireworks and give us our own 4th of July extravaganza show for free. We sat on Kim's back porch with a beer in one hand and a smoke in the other and enjoyed the show. I'm glad I stayed in town, I think it's the first year I've been here. Well worth it to discover that my crazy immigrant neighbors are either extremely patriotic or obsessed with lighting things on fire and making them go "BOOM". Gracias neighbors!

Real jail photos, from the always wonderful badpicturetaker.
I can't believe I found this. I taped a clip of something that was on Comedy Central at least 5 years ago, I never forgot the song and I sometimes get it stuck in my head. The video that accompanies this song Tube Tops (RealAudio) is even funnier by the (now non-existant?) Bert Fershners.

Jellybath
GROSS. This would be like being in a tank of good smelling hot jellyfish soup. No thanks.

George Dubose photographed cover art for many 80's new wave/early rap nyc scene albums, and a lot of them just happen to be stuff I like: The B52's, REM, The Ramones, The GoGo's first album and Biz Markie. Pretty cheesy, and not the greatest stuff I've ever seen, just interesting the same guy was doing work for all these diverse groups of people on Island records (who I interned for during college).

It felt like I've been stuck in my car since Thrusday morning... so I have been working on a little summer project with my Sublime© Stitch transfers. I'm making one of puss and one of oslo. They were in the Cat-a-Rama pack, I'm sewing them onto swatches from my old curtains that the cats ruined. Kinda irony. Anywho, it's quick compared to knitting and takes a lot less thought than painting. FUN.
Here's something fun to make if you're bored: Custom Switchplates. Ad my house we have the kind you can fill with your wallpaper, but instead I used funny guys like thisguy
